Cannoli Dip with Joy Cone Chips

Posted on May 21, 2021

Mama mia! If you’re looking for a spectacular treat to kick off the summer, you can’t do better than our Cannoli Dip with Joy Cone Chips. So good, you can use waffle cone pieces and use it as a dip, or fill a sugar cone with it so it’s closer to a real cannoli.

Historically, the cannoli was invented in Palermo, Sicily over 1,000 years ago and, because of its portability, quickly became a favorite food at Italian festivals, much as it is today. And while there are plenty of great desserts at any Italian restaurant, the cannoli remains one of the most popular items.

So, to paraphrase Clemenza in The Godfather, “Leave the other frozen treats. Take the Cannoli Dip with Joy Cone Chips.”

What you’ll need:

  • 16 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1¼ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  • Joy Waffle Cones
  • Joy Sugar Cones
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Crushed pistachio
  • Candied cherries

Directions:

Place ricotta cheese into a strainer and let sit 15 minutes to remove moisture. Place into bowl and add sugar, vanilla, and ground cinnamon. Beat on high until fully incorporated and fluffy. Fold chocolate chips into mixture until evenly distributed. Chill for ten minutes.

Remove 6 Joy Waffle Cones and break into chips. Place chilled cannoli cream into bowl and place on a serving plate. Surround with waffle cone chips and fill Joy Sugar Cones (optional for filling). Place extra powdered sugar into small sifter and dust filling and chips.

Finally, sprinkle crushed pistachio into mixture and place a few candied cherries, for garnish.

Serves: 6
