JOB SUMMARY:

The Network/Server Engineer will be responsible for the continuous design, implementation, and maintenance of our network and server infrastructure. Key responsibilities include configuring and troubleshooting network devices, managing server environments, optimizing performance, and maintaining security protocols. This employee will be a key contributor to network projects and will work closely with IT teams and other departments to ensure that network and server operations align with business goals and meet security and performance standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the integrity and performance of the company’s network and server infrastructure
  • Design, configure, and manage the company’s LAN, WAN, and wireless networks
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and availability
  • Implement and manage firewalls, routers, switches, and other network devices
  • Maintain network security by implementing protocols, managing VPNs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, including Windows and Linux servers
  • Manage and monitor server performance, ensuring high availability and reliability
  • Implement and maintain server backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Apply patches and updates to servers and applications to maintain security and compliance
  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures to protect network and server infrastructure
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for network and server-related issues
  • Work closely with the helpdesk and other IT staff to resolve complex technical problems
  • Lead and participate in IT projects related to network and server infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new implementations
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their technical needs and provide solutions
  • Stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices in network and server management
  • Other duties as assigned by management

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be highly motivated, able to follow direction, and perform assigned work duties independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Must have aptitude for problem solving
  • Must be able to speak, listen, and effectively collaborate and communicate with team members
  • Must be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must have full use of arms and legs and be able to climb stairs to access all areas of the plant and offices
  • Able to kneel, squat, bend, stoop, twist, and lift >20lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Must be organized and maintain work area
  • Ability to work under the pressure of, and meet, deadlines
  • Able to travel up to 10% to other Joy Baking Group sites

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, MCSE) are a plus
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network and server engineering or a similar role
  • Proficient in network management and troubleshooting (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Strong experience with firewall, router, and switch configuration (e.g., Cisco, Juniper)
  • Expertise in server administration, including Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of security best practices and tools, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection
  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus
  • Knowledge of data center/IT room design and management
  • Experience with SolarWinds NPM, NTA, and SAM
