Job Title: Corporate Safety Manager


This position is located in Hermitage PA. No remote work is available. Please do not apply if you are not in the area, able to commute, or willing to relocate.


The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for leading Joy Baking Group safety operations across three locations with direct, onsite, oversight of the Hermitage Cookie Facility safety operations.  This employee will coordinate the development, training, and enforcement of policies and procedures designed to maintain and improve upon employee safety. This manager is responsible for cultivating a close and effective working  relationship with Production, Traffic, HR, Quality, and Maintenance departments resulting in measurable impacts on facility safety metrics.  In this role, the Manager must handle both routine and complex issues such as: accident investigation, policy documentation, employee training, and corrective action support.


  • Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines
  • Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures
  • Coordinate, conduct, and document required employee safety training
  • Inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions
  • Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies
  • Conduct accident and near miss investigations to find cause and enact prevention measures
  • Coordinate with HR on worker’s compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident
  • Research, present, and implement safety improvements
  • Oversee activities of all safety committees and serve chair for Hermitage Cookie Safety Committee
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor


  • Must be able to climb stairs and access all areas of various manufacturing facilities
  • Must be able to travel occasionally


  • Safety Management degree and certifications (GSP, CSP, GSM) required
  • 5+ years experience working in a safety management field required
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations and guidelines (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.)
  • Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards
  • Ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures
  • Good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Good organizational, leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to recognize when safety conditions need improvement
  • Ability to prioritize tasks especially when handling an accident or incident
  • Must have demonstrated good work habits and attendance
